Everyone may be feeling a bit flat after the holiday season and New Year, the spring is still weeks away, not much to do. Cheer up your fiends and family with a wedding day.

You can’t really rely on the British weather these days. In fact one of my wettest and coldest weddings last year was in June! You know it is going to be cold during the winter months, so you won’t be upset or disappointed and you may even be pleasantly surprised if the sun does decide to shine. Look for interiors with that magical feel. Open fires, twinkling lights, mulled wine being served in the Library. Warm , cosy, welcoming , magical.
A good photographer will always have the right equipment to cope with failing light and all weather conditions. I usually like to to suggest to my couples that they have a few moments to themselves taking a stroll around the grounds at the venue and I remain some distance away capturing these natural moments. We have visited the venue beforehand and talked about the best places to go and had a little practice run so that these photos are as natural as possible.
If it is raining hard and a walk around the grounds is impossible, we will have discussed places where my couple can be dry such as under a porch or in a doorway or as in the picture below, on this beautiful seat (Hunton Park.) The photograph could still be taken in wonderful natural light. I of course was standing in the pouring rain getting drenched but it doesn’t matter if I get wet. I usually just have time to put a raincoat on my camera!
If photographs really can’t be taken outside, your photographer should have discussed a backup plan with you for taking photos inside.
